Creating Your Community

There’s an old saying that says it takes a village to raise a child. This is more true than many realize. All we have to do is look at the myriad of ways we rely on others during the parenting process to see how invaluable the input and help of others really is. It’s also true that we as adults need the help and support of that very same village. We need our tribe. Our tribe, meaning those who are like-minded, who can provide complementary or beneficial services to the rest of the group. Our village can be comprised of anyone we want and does not have to abide by any specific requirements or constraints. Creating your community, your village, can be as easy as creating a group with others who are like-minded. It could be centered around religion, spirituality, parenting, education, etc. There are countless possibilities.

We all have gifts, skills or abilities that others can benefit from. When we come together as a community and share these, everyone benefits. With so much going on in the world today, creating your community is more important that it’s ever been. None of us were meant to live isolated lives, completely cut off from the rest of the world. We are very much pack beings much like many species in the animal kingdom. We work best in groups or communities. In creating our community, we are finding those who think, act or value what we do. We are creating strength in numbers because although we think, act or value the same things, we bring different qualities to the group which benefits the group as a whole. And when we all work together, we contribute our part and get to receive what others contribute.

Creating your community is becoming increasingly important because of the divisive nature of the what’s happening around us. Our values and beliefs are being disregarded as the push for unfaltering obedience is being thrust upon us. We are being told what to do by those we might vehemently disagree with. We are having our freedoms taken away in an unprecedented way and are being given unhealthy options for how we live our lives. What we once considered normal no longer exists and many are nervous, anxious or even fearful of what’s happening and what’s to come. In creating that sense of community with others, it reassures us we are not alone. It gives us avenues for support and help that are in alignment with our values and beliefs. It helps to raise our vibration as it builds our confidence that we are not alone and that together, we can do anything.
