Hard Days

Everyone’s life has highs and lows, good times and bad. It’s always a mixture of good days and hard days for each and every one of us. If it were always the same, never changing, you would have no basis for comparison. No reason to appreciate the good times when you have them or to even recognize the highs when they come. All your days would feel the same. And you would likely miss out on the lessons and growth that typically come as the result of those hard times.

If you never had hard times, you’d never know your own strength. Blood, sweat and tears wouldn’t mean a thing. Hard days serve as a navigational beacon from which we can learn so much if we’re willing to look. It’s what causes us to go within and get in touch with our most authentic self and to come to a place of surrender. Surrendering to what is rather than fighting it and trying to control things we have no control over. Hard days also cause us to look for the greater meaning of things rather than taking them at face value. It’s where many begin their conscious relationship with Spirit. Think about it. If you never hit rock bottom, you’d never know to look for the higher purpose of what you’ve been through. You’d never have a reason to reach out to Spirit or to look to a higher source for answers or guidance.

Experiencing a heart break, having to endure more than you thought you could take, or feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders are exactly how you find out what you’re really made of. It’s how you learn just how strong you really are. And it’s where you often get in touch with the inner you. It’s where you learn to let go, surrender, heal, grow, and adapt. It’s where you learn to get back up and keep going even when you have no idea which direction to go. So although few people would say they like hard days, there are significant lessons that can be learned from having them. Our biggest growth usually comes from the biggest hurdles.
