The Art of Releasing

We have a tendency to want to hold on… to people, to things, to events. These are all things that happen to or in our lives but they should never define us. We are so much more than what happens to us. When we hold on to these people or events, we prevent ourselves from accepting what comes next in our journey. The art of releasing is what gives us relief from the past and propels us forward. It’s what sets us free from what’s been holding us back.

Allowing ourselves to get good at releasing what no longer is and what no longer serves us is an art. It’s a process where we let go of our attachment to people, things and events and simply accept what is. To be honest, I still struggle with this in some aspects of my life. Some things are easier to let go of than others but I am mindful of this and strive to master it. The reality is, the harder we try to hold on to something or someone that is no longer a vibrational match for us, the worse we feel. We are expending incredible energy fighting what is. When we stop trying to carry the past forward, we’re able to surrender to the effortlessness of life. It is when we are in this state of surrender that the universal flow of energy is able to move through us at it’s best.

The art of releasing opens us up to the freedom of being who we really are. It recognizes that none of us can be defined by our life circumstances unless we choose to be. By letting life’s events flow through us without attachment, we choose the ultimate freedom. We choose to accept where we’ve been and open ourselves up to the possibilities of where we go next.
