Listening to Guidance

Guidance can come from many different sources, some of which we are aware of and some we are not. Some of us pay closer attention to it than others, being aware of when and where it comes from. Guidance can come from more tangible sources like people, experiences and governments or it can come more from within. These types of guidance would include our intuition, our higher selves, our ancestors and other celestial beings. Wherever it comes from, we all need guidance to help us live happy and fulfilling lives. Receiving it can be easy but listening to guidance and acting upon it can be far more challenging for some of us.

Guidance is a way of directing our lives, including our thought and behavioral patterns. Given the magnitude of this and the power it can have on our journeys, it’s understandable why we should be aware of where it’s coming from. Guidance has the capacity to literally shape our lives so making sure we are getting it from the right sources is important. We each have our own path to travel but ultimately I believe we all end up at the same place. Because our journeys are all unique, the sources of guidance we choose may differ. Most of us have been conditioned to receive our guidance from our family and schools when we are young to society and the government as we get older. We have the ability to decide for ourselves, though, which sources align with us and are consistent with our beliefs. Listening to guidance is a way of taking in more information from which to make our decisions.

Not all guidance is relevant or appropriate for us individually. Find the trusted sources that feel right to you and give you the kind of guidance that aligns with your values and beliefs. I like to say life is a people business. We are all in this together and we need each other to get through it. We all have our strengths and ways we can help guide others. Share your strengths and gifts with those around you and allow them to share theirs with you. If it resonates and feels right for you, listen to it and allow it to help define your path. We were never meant to travel our journey alone.
